Second thoughts for final project

An exploration of the development of a pattern cutting process with reference to AI and machine learning

What is creativevpattern Cutting?
Solving of a technical problem
Through creative expression or expression of a creative thought through technical means?

Can a thinking machine ever move beyond the bounds of its programming and be truly, freely creative? As cutters, can we?

Nature of creativity,
Inspiration
Boundaries
Construction
Constriction
Working beyond what is "possible"

Shape repetition

Proportion
Aesthetics
What are the learned variables a cutter takes for granted?
 Grainline,
Fabric drape, recognisable shape, reinforced wear points, body movement and articulation, comfort, how can these be incorporated into an AI learning experience.

Can you then move beyond that programming” with a creative problem solving pattern leap utilising “robotics”  - eg from many complex pattern pieces to moulded corsetry in Victorian England - (shaped on the frame and steamed into place see luca’s article in FR on artificial whalebone)

For fashion prediction AI - Will just reworking the Data of what is already popular/sells well, end up with ever more banal and obvious designs?

Design thinking “Design thinking, as a mindset, is the methodology for crafting solutions to complex problems using creative techniques. You have to account for both the known landscape, and the potential possibilities within that landscape.” Medium - rishall hurbans

“Startups make even the best founders insecure. How could it be any other way? You’re doing something new. Not just new to you, but new to the world. You couldn’t possibly know what you’re doing. You can get advice, of course. But memorising cookbooks won’t make you Gordon Ramsey. You only learn by doing.Besides, often there’s no cookbook. If it’s a good idea, either no-one knows or no-one knows how: otherwise, someone would have done it already.”
