Third Brainstorm - Design and Pitching (Week 27)

Mood Board and composite created by J.Hewitt February 2018

What is your specific role/responsibility in the project?

I have very much taken on the role of project manager, I think it is essential that everyone knows what to do and the time frame they have to do it in. The team are all so creative that without very firm parameters we could quite happily just discuss and design indefinitely without actually producing the pre-requisite tasks.

Therefore it is my main task to make sure as a team that we stay on track, that tasks are delegated suitably and everyone works effectively. I have been keeping notes, making lists and schedules, organising our meetings and keeping track of tasks and also setting up communication interfaces (WhatsApp and pinterest).

Creatively, as well as producing initial ideas and concepts, I will be writing the bulk of the voiceovers and website text and be responsible for the photography.

We all shared ideas and individual mood boards for the visual aspects of the project in our meeting this week, building on discussion we'd had already about the "feel" or culture of the proposed company and product.

I felt that it is important we look for a feel that is both Hi-tech but reassuringly familiar and tactile.

I chose futuristic elements of typefaces and chrome mannequins to combine with the classic and glamorous fashionista aspects of calico toiles.

The neon blue colour was inspired by the 3D mannequin R had developed as a visual aid for the video's B has been editing, but in discussion M suggested giving a nod towards environmental aspects if possible, B had created a pantone palate of lovely greeny/blues so the palette may shift in that direction.

I am going to take some photographs next week of the team and I have started writing up voiceovers for the videos and text for the website for approval by the rest of the team, as well as working on the plan for the initial pitch meeting with the conference board next week.

We also discussed other product names including Vir-Toile, I like this but I do have some reservations that it may sound a bit close to vitriol with the negative associations that may bring, but it is a suggestion we can discuss further with the conference board too.

We are working effectively as a team I think, technology such as Whats App is certainly making it easier to stay in touch as we all live in different cities, so meeting up more than once or twice a week is impractical.

I also started a group pinterest board which is a great place for us to pin and share useful images and articles.

Seeing how much these have facilitated our group work really reinforces the usefulness of a digital toiling system too with its ease of immediate view and shareing.
